Female Doctors of the Church and Patron Saints of Europe
in Dialogue with Today's World
7-8 March 2022
Vatican News (14 Februrary 2022) reported on the announcement of a congress entitled Female Doctors of the Church and Patron Saints of Europe in Dialogue with Today's World to be held in Rome from 7-8 March 2022. The report numbered St Thérèse of Lisieux, St Hildegard of Bingen, St Teresa of Avila, St Edith Stein, St Bridget of Sweden and St Catherine of Siena among the women chosen, by the Chuch, to offer hope and inspiration in times of challenges and fear.
Profesor Cadavid, Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies on Women of the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum said at the announcement that one feature which women theologians and saints have in common is the belief that Christian life must 'give life', it must be generative and said that for "St Thérèse of Lisieux 'to give life was to be in that convent, praying with that desire of being at the heart of the Church' as she said before dying".
The event is being organised by the Pontifical Urban University, the Institute for Advanced Studies on Women of the Pontifical University Regina Apostolorum and the Catholic University of Avila.
